Melukote an Introduction – English

Among the hundred and eight Sri Vaishnava kshetras, Melukote Srikshetra is one of the most important. Melukote is a very ancient spiritual paradise and has been referred to as ‘Yadavagiri’ and ‘Dakshina Badarikashrama’. Early in the 12th century, Sri Ramanujacharya, stayed at Melukote for about 12 years and thus increasing its prominence many folds.

This book details the ‘Saptha kshetra-s’ (Seven sacred centers) and ’Ashta Thirtha-s’ (Eight Holy waters) which are in and around Melukote. The book describes how Sri Ramanujacharya revitalized Melukote by reinstalling ‘Tirunarayana’ idol and building the temple. The book also the various festivals unique to the Melukote Temple.

Overall, This Book is an attempt to give a brief yet comprehensive introduction on Melukote to help pilgrims understand its mythological and Historical significance.

ನೂರೆಂಟು ಶ್ರೀ ವೈಷ್ಣವ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆ ಶ್ರೀಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಪ್ರಮುಖವಾದುದು. ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆಯು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಪುರಾತನವಾದ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಕೇ೦ದ್ರವಾಗಿದ್ದು ಇದನ್ನು ‘ಯಾದವಗಿರಿ’ ಮತ್ತು ‘ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಬದರಿಕಾಶ್ರಮ’ ಎಂದು ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. 12 ನೇ ಶತಮಾನದ ಆರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ, ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಾನುಜಾಚಾರ್ಯರು ಮೇಲುಕೋಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 12 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಇದ್ದು ಅದರ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಅನೇಕ ಪಟ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿದರು.
